This starts a series of 4 photos where Brian does a nice job of
initating and following through in a V2 stroke. In this shot, he has
just planted his poles. His body is vertical, but he is in a decent
skiers stance with knees slightly bent, ready to apply power.
-
He is at the max for applying upper body power here. Notice that his hands haven't really dropped in relation to his head. At this point, his back has curled, ankles flexed to drive the knees forward.
-
The stroke continues, his back is curled forward, ankles are flexed, arms are starting to follow through.
-
The stroke is complete, arms are now following through and he pushes off while flexing his ankles to drive his knees forward.
-
Notice the arms close to the body and her back curled up into a C shape. The power of the stroke comes from the abs, not the arms.
