WINN was originally formed to help address some of the issues that skiers were having with trails conflicts. Examples where WINN has been successful or at least has gotten the skier voice heard have included:
- McMiller ski area where gun/skier conflicts threatened to reduce skier access
- Greenbush where the mountain bike and skier communities were battling for a reasonable and sustainable plan to co-exist
- Conflicts with the gun deer season for which WINN helped limit the extended season to an area south of Hy 8
- Blue Mounds State Park where we worked with skiers and the DNR to help communicate needs about grooming and Chronic Wasting Disease issues
- ATV expansion where an ongoing effort to expand access to ATV's threatens the quiet winter woods we all love
- Razorback Ridges where we communicated with local organizations to get the skiers point of view heard while logging was going on
- Roller ski issues on public roads and trails
