Twenty two strong feeling athletes made it happen under the lights Tue. night. We made 30 reps up the Hill using a barrage of different techniques, some more pleasant than others. There was a lot of heavy breathing going on and at last (5 weeks) we had some efforts that went to completion.

The whole idea of pushing yourself to completion (my term) is to pace your effort so that you are spent, physically and mentally, at the end of the event. In racing there are peaks and valleys, likewise there are within the workout. We have recovery reps (really!) and high stress reps but make no mistake this is a hard effort. Technically there was some improvement but there is room for more. There is a perception that while going really hard that you can let technique slip just because your tired......oh wrongo bucko.

We go again next Tue. at 5:30 pm. Expect a new twist to the rope, a new form of motivation. How exciting.

ROLLERSKIING:

This Saturday we are going to meet at the EAST RIVER TRAIL at the LeBrun Lot. We can plan on a TT and a specific strength workout to follow. Time permiting I would like to make a foray to Scrays Hill on Ledgeview road. Rain is forcast and remember: I melt when wet. Keep an eye out but if dry we go. 8:00 am.

To get to the LeBrun lot:

Take Highway 172 (same as before) to the Webster Ave exit. Go South to Hoffman Road (1st stopsign) and head East. Go past Libel Street to EAST RIVER DRIVE. (there is a new mall with lots of flags at the corner, if you go over the East River you went too far) Go South about a mile and look for LeBrun Street (Yard waste center is adjacent) and go East to parking lot. The South portion of the trail is pretty nice and I have planned the TT for the "Lollipop" at the end. You can also exit 172 at GV and go South (one block)to Hoffman road and then travel west on Hoffman to East River Drive. The trail is only about a kilometer from the FRT at Depere. The Lebrun lot is on the Depere/Allouez border.
