Gassed up, ready to go.
It was a brisk night what with the wind and the clear night air. That did nothing to chill the enthusiasm of 26 athletes on Tuesday who did 31 full ( 50 in the metric system ) reps and a brutal lactate interval and 7 bonus reps. The intensity went up a notch and there where moments of awesome technique. Kudo's to Jim S. and Miss Katherine who's technical improvement has been steady and would be good to model off of.
Imagine my surprise the next morning whilst rollerskiing the FRT (which was pretty clean due to the new trail blower the county got a couple weeks ago with funds from your and mine trail fees) when I saw Ryan and Curtis out doing a forced technique workout on rollerskis. It is that kind of dedication that makes me feel good about today's youth.....even if they where skipping school. Several of the Ashw. Ski Team are leaving for a training camp in West Yellowstone over the Thanksgiving break. These are high profile, on snow camps, it will be good exposure for them.
Speaking of Ashwaubenon, The 1st Annual Stump Farm Trail Race is Saturday at 9:30 AM. This is a great course, moderate intensity trail 10K run. This would be a great training event instead of rollerskiing the FRT. I will be there and several of us may ski the local roads around the camp after. The roads in the vicinity are in fabulous shape so toss your rollerskis in your car, just in case. There is a 3k run/walk for those less spirited. There is a soup and bread feed for participants after the run. See http://blogs.xcskiwinn.org/ashwaubenonskiteam/ for more info.
Everyone looked good Tue. Lets go for 35 reps this Tue but as always...QUALITY before QUANITY.
STC: Juliet, Danny, Rosemary and Bing have a lot in common.....most obvious....their dead.
STC: You have all seen the Gypsy Moth nests at the camp. What is their egg mass insulated with?
