PLUG and BOUND UP
Eight was great for a TT on Saturday but it was not to be as the Walk for Obtuse was going on and plugged the trail so we did some moreFORCED TECHNIQUE whilst I tried to keep Chris S. in site..... fortunatly he was dripping testosterone and was easy to follow. Phil N. was just dripping, period.
Westart hillboundingTUESDAY the 21st. Tomorrow!. The 1st two weeks we will spend some time on technique and getting used to the hill. We want tominimize the DOMS and get it correct before we hit the fan as it where. We will do one lactate interval however which will give an indication of what occured this summer.
Hillbounding many consider the most effective workout for skiing there is. It is aerobic, even when traveling down the hill as your heart rate lags the effort, rarely dipping below a level 2 output. It has great potential for technical development (especially when tired). It is also a great specific strength potential as you are lifting you weight up the hill. No wonder many elite skiers treat this as their focus workout.
To be effective we need to prioritize the workout into sub goals.
1/ Technique - Going at a pace that allows for perfect REPEATABLE technique goals* (1st week goal)
2/ Timing the individual elements to allow for the strong muscular contrations of key muscle groups.
3/ Create pathways that allow for the muscular and aerobic RECOVERY between sets. These pathways are physical, chemical and mental, you achieve them through training that sometimes overwhelms the body. That is how you improve. Simply put: You get used to it!
It will be warmer, bring a bottle and a towel, get hydrated. See ya Tuesday at 5:30 PM at Bairds.
