It's ok, I'm a doctor!
...........so said Chris S. after his axel nut fell off on the FRT this morning. Seven of us started the day off with a nice ski at 52* and light winds. The new 8:00 am start worked out with everyone bright eyed for a quick ski. We skied the trail length and a little more with a little single sticking, double poling and free skating thrown in. IMPORTANT: As the trail gets busier we can use trail traffic as an OPPORTUNITY to double pole past the walkers/runners/bikers/skaters/sterno bums and get a little extra arm work in..........and save a collision in the process.
I would like to start each session with a few technique goals and ONE specific technique item to focus on during the workout. We found our hill at Lazarre St. which we will use in the future. I will measure a 5-6km TT course for future use as well. These TT are short and will be used to benchmark progress and will NOT replace the normal workout.
From the down the road files: We may have some overdistance days later on. These can be 40-50+ks and would involve an early start with the group meeting at the normal time. These are slow, steady skis but with little or NO stopping.
Next week we go at 7:59, be ready to roll. Workout and enjoy the cooler weather now........we may want some in July.
STC: No one got the STC last week....so we will never know!
STC: Why does the word MODULUS have great meaning to a ski racer?
