What a disparity in snow conditions. East Green Bay may as as well be Pompano Beach for all the snow we have. That said I did ski yesterday at Barkhausen and enjoyed some good skiing..........and some not so fine stuff as well. Let's just say my skis are lighter now.

If you go to www.skinnyski.com and go to reports and look at the photo's of Afterglow from Monday the 8th you would think they were of Lapland. WOW. Think your done skiing? Don't go north!

Speaking of north, the Great Bear Chase was this past weekend with several great finishes from the group, www.skinnyski.com has the results linked in now. What would you do for 43 seconds? Ask Jim Beno as that amount of time would have had him at 2:59:59.

I have given some thought to a year long training group patterned after some of the programs found in Europe and closer to home in MPLS. As a way of maintaining conditioning (CONTACT I like to call it) I am proposing a once (or more) a week training group to meet and do some "skicific" training. It does not have to be intense (at first) but there is some advantages of getting together for training, both mental and physical. I am thinking about rollerskiing specifically but not limited to that. Hill bounding in the fall. Bike hill work (ski specific) even Bellin run event. With a smaller community like ours we need to draw on a bigger area to achieve what I call "critical mass", that is we would like to get 40-60 people who are interested so that on any given training event enough people could come so that we can achieve a push-pull effect through a wide range of abilities {run on sentence}. It is also more fun to workout as a group.

The idea would be to up the ante and include video work, intervals, time trials and peer support into your workouts........just like the big guns. I think April would be a good time to start, low key relaxed, technique stuff and expand into more focus as we go. Let me know if this is of interest, tell some friends and get out there, the best motivation to workout is having fun with your friends.

I have a great name: SNOW (SKI NOW ON WISCONSIN....it is after all what skiing is all about.
