To everybody's knowledge, this is the first time the Stump Farm has ever been canceled and this is disappointing for both those racers that have enjoyed a nice but not terribly difficult race just before the big marathons, and because it is an important fund raiser for the Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Team. Let's look forward to a much better year next year.

As of today (2/8/2007), the Stump Farm Classic is still on for Saturday the 17th of February! We have not yet set the course yet however and our plan is to evaluate between a few options tonight and make a call. The good news is while the general shortage of snow we are all familiar with wherever you happen to be from is true here too, we do have snow and the weather is not likely to change that between now and the 17th.

When we decide on the venue we will post the registration form as soon as possible.

UPDATE: after reviewing the possible venues today, we have decided to hold off on a decision until Monday or Tuesday of next week. decision to cancel the Hodag Nordic Challenge skate race scheduled for this
Sunday at the Northwood Ski Trails. We had two days of temperatures in
the high 30's and it did not get below freezing last night. We were
hoping to do a test groom at 6 AM today which was not possible. The
forecast calls for below freezing temps Friday through the weekend.
Our course will be one big sheet if ice. Without the chance for the
groomers to see what they can do the prudent decision is to cancel. Our
goal now is to preserve the ski trail base and hope for more snow on our
wonderful state meet course. Thanks for your interest and support of our
event - it's greatly appreciated

will do an easy rest loop in between. Please bring a watch to time
yourself. Of most interest is equal or negative splits between the two. This
is a great loop for this as it is super low traffic and appropriate for a good
sustained effort at a dusky time of year. We will finish with several
core loop laps to cool down.
