Melanie Hoffman breaks world record!
Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Club skier Melanie Hoffman broke the previous
women's world record of 15.47 on her way to a third place finish in the
100 meter sprints at West
Yellowstone. Her time was 15.43. That's right, even with a time like
that, it didn't turn out to be the
winning time, but it was still an impressive time. Actually,
impressive doesn't begin to describe it!. Melanie is a sophomore from
Pulaski High
School. When I asked her about it last night, her modest comment was,
"I didn't get a good start". She also said that at first not many women
participated, but as the race went on more did.
The male winner,
Kevin Hochtl got a bit of local press,
but the female winner Sadie Bjornsen, who also broke the previous
women's record was not mentioned. The fact that our midwest
high school athlete Melanie also broke that record I think really
deserves some mention. So.....
Way to go Melanie!

are the complete results.
